INSIDE W/ HALEY DIXON

Hey hey, party people, idk. Anyways we have another amazing interview, this time from Haley Dixon!! Are you as excited as I am? I hope so! Well, buckle up and sit tight, bc we’re going on an Artist roller coaster ride!

I asked Dixon a couple of questions, just to get to know her and what inspires and motivates her as an artist, keep reading to read the full interview!! 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

What Inspires your creativity?

“My mind is nonstop, and if I don’t release some of that energy through my creative expression I honestly believe I would explode. I draw inspiration from my experiences, dreams, thoughts and feelings, fears, and definitely nature. I am an awestruck hippie in a gorgeous world full of inspiration.”

What does your artwork represent?

“Color is very important in my art because I have a strong connection with chakra energy. My art explains the thoughts and feelings I can’t decipher. I don’t usually have an idea of what I will come up with when I create things because I know the vision will change constantly by the time I’m done with it. I just let my natural flow guide me. If I get stuck I usually partake in a spontaneous dance break to open my second chakra.”

How do you make it, in the art community?

“I just started selling my art, and I’ll have a website up soon. I try to make as many connections as possible to get a foot in any door. My goal is to be able to live off my art and passions so I can live a more free life and be in control of my time, but it’s hard in a society controlled by money and materialistic value. “

What does art mean to you, and what does it mean for society?

“For me art is an expression, an ability to send a message without it getting tangled up with misspoken words. It can be whatever anyone needs to see at any given time. Art provides answers. For society art is a silent revolution. It’s a way to express what we’re told to repress. It’s a gateway to thoughts and feelings in a whole new light. Art is a union of consciousness.”

How does being from KC affect your work in the Artist community?

“Being from Kansas City, I see that living in the art world is possible. It connects me with others who may see the world in a similar way. Seeing the art world in KC gives me hope that I can reach my goals as an upcoming artist. “

What is currently your favorite medium?

“I really like the fluidity of chalk pastels. I started making very simple sunsets with them when I was young. I got a good set of them for Christmas one year and have been in love ever since. I also like to paint with acrylics and I’ve recently been enjoying watercolor, but I don’t like cleaning up my mess so I usually just go for the pastels.”

Last, but never least, a little about yourself.

“I am an adventurous soul, and a natural healer. I work with chakra energy and I’m learning about herbal medicine. I love to read, mostly about Buddhist psychology, chakras, and things of the sort. I practice yoga and also do aerial silks and trapeze in my free time. I have a lovely boyfriend named Mason, who I plan on exploring the world with in our Astrovan.“
